Shajra (clan)

Shajra are a Jat tribe found in the provinces of Sindh and Punjab in Pakistan. They are found mainly in the districts of Khanewal, Multan and Rajanpur in Punjab. The Shajra claim descent from Mahli, who is said to be a Suryavanshi Rajput. This Mahli is said to have four sons, Shajra being one of them, the other three being Bhutta. Naich and Langah, from whom descend the Bhutta, Naich and Langah tribes. Their customs are similar to neighbouring Jat tribes, and they are entirely Muslim. Those Shajra settled in Punjab speak Seraiki, while those settled in Sindh speak Sindhi.[1]
